In February 1997, Larry Daniel developed a plan designed to offer money saving
opportunities to small trucking companies and owner operators. While the name
had not been developed at that time, the concept was clear.
Having been a salesman for most of his professional career, Larry had seen the
inequities experienced by the small trucking companies and the independent owner
operators, and how they paid a much higher price for goods and services that
their larger competitors paid for the exact same goods or services. Larry devised
the concept of a program that would allow individual owners and the smaller
fleets an opportunity to make their purchases through one collective account
which would make the total purchases through that account more in volume than
larger fleets in the same trade area.
It did not take long for the concept to prove worthy, and it was then expanded
to other fields of products and/or services, and the name, America's Independent
Truckers' Association was adopted, and was referred to as AITA. Many suppliers
were skeptical at first, and many passed on the opprtunities available through
AITA, but a few agreed to give us a try.
Naturally, the more programs offered, the more participation was experienced
as membership grew. This created interest from prospective vendors.
During the early days of AITA, Larry was developing the programs as a part time
endeavor. As interest and participation increased, the demands for time and
attention grew, and on March 23, 2000, Larry incorporated the business as "America's
Independent Truckers' Association, Inc." and operated as AITA.
Time demands increased, and in February 2002, Larry moved to AITA full time.
From that date the number of programs and the amount of information made available
has increased tremendously.
AITA continually looks for products and/or services used and needed by the trucking
industry. AITA has developed programs for a Fuel Card, a debit card, Tire Discounts, Roadside
Support, parts discounts, insurance programs, load baords and the
list goes on and on. AITA is working to develop a method of savings for anything used in the
transportation field.
In addition to the discounts available through AITA, we offer more trucking related
information than any other single source that we have found on the web, and this information is
FREE to the American trucker.
AITA's goal is to simplify every aspect of trucking, leaving the trucker free
to do his job. We are determined to provide the information a trucker needs
in order to do his job efficiently and economically in a means that is least
costly to that individual. AITA makes most of the programs, and almost all of
our information openly available to non-members. We encourage truckers to join
and support our association, but we are not going to deprive them of the usefullness
of our information for the sake of membership fees.
